Mix Master Mike came to prominence upon winning the 1992 New Music Seminar/Supermen Inc. DJ Battle for World Supremacy in New York City, becoming the first West Coast DJ ever to do so. The turntablist is best known for his work with Beastie Boys. Check Your Head is the third studio album by the Americanrap rockgroupBeastie Boys, released byGrand RoyalandCapitol Recordson April 21, 1992. Three years elapsed between the releases of the band's second studio albumPaul's BoutiqueandCheck Your Head, which was recorded at the G-Son Studios inAtwater Villagein 1991 under the guidance of producerMario Caldato Jr., the group's third producer as many albums. Less sample-heavy than their previous records, the album features instrumental contributions from all three members:Adam Horovitzon guitar,Adam Yauchon bass guitar, andMike Diamondon drums.
