Historical Milestones
Tommy Lee was the founding member and drummer for the legendary rock group Mötley Crüe. Lee would go on to form the rap-metal band Methods of Mayhem and pursued his own solo musical projects throughout his career.
Mötley Crüe quickly built a strong fan base and they released their debut album Too Fast for Love in 1981, on their own independent label Leathür Records. Elektra Records made the decision to sign the band shortly after and reissuing their debut in 1982. The band then made a series of hit album releases over the next decade with 1983's Shout at the Devil, 1985's Theatre of Pain, 1987's Girls, Girls, Girls, and 1989's Dr. Feelgood. These hit records launched the group into their spot as one of the biggest hard rock/metal bands of the 1980s. Tommy Lee made his name as a drummer for using many memorable stunts during his drum solos and live performances, which included his famous revolving drum set or flying his drum set over the crowd as he kept playing his solos. His antics also included mooning the crowd at almost every show he performed.
