Written and directed by Wolfgang Petersen, Shattered (1991) is a Hitchcockian neo-noir/psychological thriller with lead Tom Berenger, Greta Scacchi, and Bob Hoskins. The film also stars Corbin Bernsen, Joanne Whalley, and Scott Getlin.
The film’s story is about a man named Dan Merrick (Berenger) who had an amnesia following a car accident. Flashbacks of events in his life continue popping in his mind; therefore, he investigates. It is revealed that Dan’s wife, Judith (Scacchi), had anaffair and got into a car accident with her lover. The damaged face of Judith’s lover was transformed to look like Dan. Meanwhile, Dan was murdered and shot to death in front of Judith’s lover.
