On her twenty-seventh birthday, Catherine welcomes her sibling Claire from New York for the memorial service of Robert, their father. Catherine lived with her father for over five years, comprehensively giving up her job at the faculty, and concerned about inheriting her father’s insanity. One day, one mathematician of Chicago’s University, Hal, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, is producing a study on Robert’s notebooks, trying to look for any dazzling proof that Robert might have manufactured on one moment of clarity. When Hal and Catherine met, they where rapidly acquainted with each other and one time when Hal had a one nightstand with Catherine, she presented a notebook to him with the progress of an inimitable mathematics theory with Catherine asserting that it is her own work. Hal and her sister didn’t believe her until the truth was discovered.

 

The role of actor Anthony Hopkins, as the father of the Paltrow’s character, is very essential to the film, as he portrayed his role superbly. He is more of a supporting actor to actress Gwyneth Paltrow. He was an outstanding mathematician who did nothing but stayed at their house with his daughter Catherine.
