Lee Simon, played by Branagh, is a journalist and an aspiring novelist. Right after having a divorce with his insecure wife Robin, played by Davis, Lee entered into a long series of sexual relationships with different ladies that include a supermodel, a wannabe actress and a film star. However, behind all of these things, he remains unsuccessful and every time he makes an effort to move his career up, he always ends up losing. As with Robin, after considering a makeover is now moving on with her life. Eventually, both Lee and Robin found a new love. Lee finds a new love with Nola, played by Ryder, while Robin with Tony, a TV producer, played by Mantegna. With the help of Tony, Robin landed a celebrity interview program of her own.
