Batman is a comic book superhero and a Justice League member which was created by both Bob Kane (artist) and Bill Finger (writer). The comic book was published by the famous DC comics where the first Batman character appearance was in the Detective Comics No.27 on May 1939. Batman’s real identity is Bruce Wayne, a multi-billionaire playboy, philanthropist and industrialist with a dark and horrible past. He had witnessed the death of his parents in his early childhood that drive him to have himself physically and intellectually trained. Batman operates in Gotham city wearing his bat costume and fighting crimes. He had a lot of help from his loyal butler, Alfred Pennyworth, and sidekicks such as Robin and the Batgirl. He does not have any superpowers which makes him a more adorable superhero. In the absence of a superpower, he makes use of his superior intellect and detective skills, knowledge in science and technology, physical prowess, intimidation and his multibillion dollar wealth.
Batman has been showed in a television series in the 1960’s and the phenomenal success of Tim Burton’s “Batman” in 1989 has sparked a lot of interest to the character in the current generation. At some point in time, DC comics had planned to kill Batman off because slow sales but later on made some changes on the character including Batmobile and Bat costume revisions. The success of the Batman television series in 1966 has increased sales on the comic book industry that reached around 900,000 copies sold but eventually died down again at its lowest in 1985. Batman has several enemies in their fight against crimes such as Penguin, Mister Freeze, Poison Ivy, Bane, the Riddler and the most famous of them all, the Joker. Batman is now very popular around the world especially with release of the film “The Dark Knight” which has been a phenomenal success in the box office.
