The sleazy job gives him the liberty and the money to splurge on a mansion, expensive cars and clothes. He starts a liaison with a local politician’s wife Michelle played by Lauren Hutton and soon ends up falling in love with her. Things take a dramatic turn when one of his earlier clients is murdered and he becomes one of the suspects. Although Michelle, who has now fallen in love with him, is the only one who can give him an alibi, she cannot do that without putting her husband to shame.

Released in 1980, the movie also stars Hector Elizondo as Detective Sunday investigating the case and Nina Van Pallandt. Although it was included in the thriller genre, this movie falls more into the romance category. The film falls miserably flat in the thriller aspect, it is known for the notable performance by Richard Gere in the movie. After replacing John Travolta in the movie, Gere’s intense and sleazy role as the male escort is stunning and quite memorable. The reviewers have however criticized the dodgy sex scenes which make the film look dated and uninteresting. However if you are a Richard Gere fan then this is a great movie to catch.
