The story centers on the life of Frank Lucas played by Denzel Washington who witnessed the killing of his mentor. He then made his way to Harlem and went on to become the linchpin in the drug business. He traveled to Asia to establish a network of drug connections. Placing the heroin in the coffins of the dead soldiers, he shipped massive amounts of heroin back to the US, thus making millions in drug sales. Trailing him is the hard to shake honest cop Richie Roberts played by Russell Crowe, who is assigned as the head of a Federal Investigation Force of Narcotics and finally helps bring the top dog in the drugs business to justice. Richie now with the help of Frank together try to expose the heroin trade, which is supported by crooked cops and foreign nationals.

 

This is the second movie in which the acclaimed pair of Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe work together. According to sources, the movie lives up to the high expectations that it had raised. The superb acting performances by the two main actors and the story telling capability of Ridley Scott has made this one of the most interesting stories.
