This is the story of Amelia who discovers her love for flying at the age of 23 and her relationship with the publishing tycoon George Putman (Richard Gere) who recruits her as the first woman to cross the Atlantic Ocean resulting in her eventual fame. This film also chronicles the relationship with the Federal Aviation administrator gene Vidal played by Ewan Mcregor.

 

This movie released in 2009 by Fox Searchlight Pictures was directed by Mira Nair. She also co produced the film along with Hilary Swank, Ted Waitt, Ronald Bass, Kevin Hyman and Lydia Dean Pilcher. The movie was sharply criticized by reviewers who labeled this movie as a “dud”. It also failed miserably at the box office with fairly insipid performances. The overtly sappy scenes and the poetic approach by the director fall miserably flat. Sadly the impressive cast too fails to do justice to the film. As sources revealed this movie sadly fails to do justice to the life and career of a great woman Amelia Earhart.
