The movie not only was a box office success but also got a lot of critical acclaim. It won several awards including the best director for Ridley Scott. Veronica Cartwright for her excellent role too garnered the award for the Best Supporting actress. The stunning visual effects in the movie earned it an Academy Award. The screenplay of the movie was written by Dan O’Bannon and it was distributed by 20th Century Fox. Other significant actors in the movie included Ian Holm, Harry Dean Stanton and John Hurt.  The movie’s success translated into video games, comics, merchandise and posters that became an instant attraction.
