1918 is directed by Ken Harrison, a film that is focused on self-control and melodramatic conceits. At first, it’s not so easy to get to know this movie. It opens on the day at the Coronet, which is somehow at a distant until one has to find its rhythm. The film reveals its idealized and moving reverie about the place, people and time. People in the film are resolutely particular and ordinary.
It has its main setting in Harrison, Texas with concerns and locations quite familiar but is seemingly seen in different manner. It’s almost anti-dramatic and different! The film is set on an autumn and hot 1918 where Harrison citizens are patriotic enough to protect their own home from the fiendish hordes of Kaiser, 5000 miles to the northeast.
