After Series Finale, ‘Lost’ Memorabilia Is On the Move

Monday, May 24th, 2010

I wrote early last week about hundreds of pieces of Lost memorabilia hitting the auction block in Los Angeles. Now it appears some selected pieces of the show’s television memorabilia are heading to the Nation’s Capitol.

Shop celebrity collages.

Besides the auction block and possibly the Smithsonian Institute, dozens of pieces of props and tv show collectibles are headed for New York City’s Vilcek Foundation, while many are staying put in Hawaii. ABC, the show’s creator, has reportedly called dibs on many props central to the show’s plot, including fuselage from Oceanic Flight 815, which are actual airplane pieces purchased from an airport bone yard.

The numbers aren’t in yet, but considered the amount of press last night’s series finale is receiving from national press, expect Lost’s finales to be one of the most-watched shows in television history.

Marilyn Dress Could Fetch Big Bucks

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

It’s no secret that some pieces of entertainment memorabilia can fetch thousands, even millions of dollars. Such is the case of about anything touched, owned or related to Marilyn Monroe.

The pink dress the starlet made famous in Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend is expected to hit the auction block later this week and may fetch up to a quarter of a million dollars. While some pieces of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia are much more affordable, the cost of some are astronomical. Take a look at an auction for Monroe’s dress the night she sang President John F. Kennedy “Happy Birthday” that reeled in over $1.25 million.

For those not so big on Marilyn fear not, there are also some rare pieces of Johnny Depp memorabilia including movie set pieces from each of the Pirates of the Caribbean.
