The Long and Winding Road- Looking Back at the Beatles
Monday, August 25th, 2008The Beatles
So much has been written about the Beatles for so many years that it seems almost fruitless to write about them any longer.
But what has happened to me is that I keep re-discovering new sides to their talent. To me that is a sign of a group that created music and lyrics that are truly immortal.
Every time I look at some piece of nostalgia, such as signed music posters by them or a Beatles signed guitar, it takes me right back to the time that I considered one of the best in my life.
I find myself trying to convey that to my 15 year old son, his reply being a simple stare off into space with a look that says “who cares?”.
But I can go back and remember what a golden age it was, with the Beatles describing in poetic terms the feelings I were having at the time and the strong sense of community that existed back then.
With all the troubles this world has since gotten into, it feels good now and then to reminisce about old, cherished and not forgotten more pleasant memories.
And the Beatles were certainly a great part of that time.
