Way back in 1988-89, Latifah beat boxed for ladies Fresh, a rap group. A demo version of Latifah's solo "Princess of the Posse" impressed DJ Mark the 45 King who submitted the same to the host of Yo! MTV Raps. 1989 saw the release of the then 19 year old Latifah’s first album ‘All Hail the Queen’. Following the release of her fourth hip-hop album ‘Order in the Court’, Latifah shifted her focus chiefly towards singing in soul music and jazz standards.
