Timothy Bottoms started out as an American actor and later on pursued greater heights in the Hollywood industry being a film producer. Born in California, he is the eldest in the family with his father being highly involved in arts working as a sculptor. According to researchers, his brothers are all actors as well even with Ben Bottoms being able to tour Europe. He was a member of the Santa Barbara Madrigal Society. Their youngest brother, Sam, passed away for the infliction of brain cancer by 2008. He was the closest sibling to Timothy.

He started out his debut in acting in the seventies. This was for Johnny Got His Gun where he acted as a mutilated soldier for the World War I.
