Sally Margaret Field is a popular American actress, singer, producer, director and screenwriter. She began her television career with sitcom series, “Gidget”. In 1973, she starred with John Davidson in “The Girl with Something Extra”. With comedy as her forte, she landed the lead role in a TV film, “Sybil”, based on the work of Flora Rheta Schreiber. The film not only won her an Emmy, but also released her from the stereotypical comic roles she had been offered prior to that.
Sally dabbled in singing while acting in “The Flying Nun”. The same year, she also sang Felicidad. Field began her film career in 1962 with a meager role in “Moon Pilot”. In 1977, she starred opposite Burt Reynolds and Jerry Reed in “Smokey and the Bandit”. She however won an Academy award for her role in “Norma Rae”. This film established her as a serious actress and also won her accolades at the Cannes Film Festival. She won her second Oscar in 1984 for “Places in the Heart”.
Field appeared on the cover of the Playboy magazine in the March issue of 1986. She was the interview subject and not a Playboy bunny. She played supporting roles in a couple of movies including “Forest Gump”, “Mrs. Doubtfire” with the Robin Williams signed “Mrs. Doubtfire” 16x20 photo PSADNA and “Legally Blonde 2 : Red, White, and Blonde” alongside Reese Witherspoon in 2003.
She began her stint behind the camera with the movie; “The Christmas Tree” in 1996.She also directed the feature film, “Beautiful”. Field is currently a part of the ABC series “Brothers and Sisters”. Field married Stevens Craig with the “The Deadly Mantis” Craig, Stevens signed display in 1968.She later married Alan Griesman, but they got divorced in 1993. Sally is currently suffering from osteoporosis and is a spokesperson for the same.
