In his later years, he was famous for his movie, The Godfather, which earned him an Academy Award for Best Actor.

Marlon Brando was born on April 3, 1924 in Omaha, Nebraska and was raised by his parents, Dorothy Julia Pennebaker Brando and Marlon Brando, Sr. who eventually moved to Evaston, Illinois. His parents separated when he was just about eleven years old and it was her mother that took care of him in Santa Ana, California. When his parents reconciled in 1937, they moved to a village north of Chicago called Libertyville. He was not doing well in Libertyville High School and so by the age of 16, he went to a school where his father was before, the Shattuck Military Academy in Minnesota. While he was in Shattuck, he excelled in theater but eventually had to stop schooling after he was almost expelled on the previous year. Marlon had worked as a ditch digger as a summer job but eventually decided to follow his sister to New York who was at the time an aspiring painter. While staying in New York, he went to American Theatre Wing Professional School and learned the Stanislavski System.

Marlon Brando’s accomplishment includes two Academy Awards and six nominations, three BAFTA awards and four nominations, one Emmy Award, two Golden Globe Awards and four nominations and one award from Cannes Film Festival. Among his best movies were “The Godfather”, “A Streetcar named Desire”, “On the Waterfront”, “Viva Zapata!”, “Julius Caesar”, “Sayonara” and “Last Tango in Paris”.
