Due to Hamill’s success on the Star Wars Series, the actor found it difficult to find work because of audiences and directors only viewing him in the role of Luke Sywalker. During the 1990’s, Hamill engaged in voice work and video games as well as animated TV shows such as Batman: The Animated Series where he was the voice of The Joker. The series lasted from 1992 to 1995.

Hamill’s next undertaking was with video games. The Wing Commander computer fames hit the shelves in the early 1990’s, and it was one of the first that used full-motion cut-scenes and Hamill’s part was that of Colonel Christopher Blair. When the acting door seemed closed after his Star Wars success, he continued his career with voice over, video games, audio books, and narrations. Hamill branched out into writing as well which included comic book series.

Hamill has enjoyed a long marriage to Marilou York, who he married in 1978. The couple has three children, Griffin, Chelsea, and Nathan.
