Lucille Ball was not only a wonderful actress but she was also a great comedian, a radio and stage performer and also created and managed her own production company.
In 1927, her mother had Lucille attend Drama school where she met fellow actress Bette Davis
. Lucille is remembered for her performance in the legendary television show depicting the lead ‘Lucy’ in ‘I love Lucy’, ‘The Lucy Show’ and ‘Here’s Lucy’. Her husband at the time Desi Arnaz co-starred with her as Lucy Ricardo’s husband. She appeared in the Bob Hope
special along with the other cast members in 1956.
‘I love Lucy’ started with a tour conducted by Lucille and her husband who were later asked by CBS to convert it into a television series. This show has dominated the weekly TV ratings since its inception. The episode ‘Lucy does the Tango’ where the Ricardo’s are practicing the tango has witnessed the longest recorded studio laughter ever in the history of the show.

’s grandfather Henry Fonda had become very close to Lucille during the filming of ‘Yours Mine and Ours’.
Lucille Ball was the first woman to start her own production company and was always active in its day-to-day operations. At the same time she also taught a 32-week comedy workshop where she exclaimed that it is difficult to teach comedy to someone. Either they have it or they don’t.
Her production company also produced other hit shows including ‘Our Miss Brooks’ and ‘I Spy’ which were filmed at the Desilu studios.
