His mother Sally was a singer while his father was a musician who owned a bar and grill and a coffee shop. Kelsey Grammer was born on February 21, 1955 in Saint Thomas, U.S Virgin Islands. His parents got separated while he was young and was raised by his mother and his grandparents, Gordon Cranmer and Evangeline Dimmock. Tragedies have been a familiar sight throughout Kelsey’s life. His father was killed in his own home in the U.S Virgin Islands. His sister was also murdered after being abducted in a restaurant where her boyfriend had worked and finally, his half-brother was killed by a shark while SCUBA diving.

Kelsey Grammer had a three year internship in San Diego with the Old Globe Theater and moved on to Minnesota to join with the Guthrie Theater. He has his debut in Broadway as Lennox in the play Macbeth. He took the lead role after one of play’s actor; Philip Anglim withdrew due to unfavorable reviews. He had another Broadway role as Cassio in a Broadway revival Othello.

Kelsey Grammer’s most famous projects were his NBC sitcoms “Cheers” and “Frasier”, both had successful reviews and ratings. Cheers ran for about nine successful years while Frasier had a phenomenal run of eleven years. Kelsey is the first American actor to have been nominated for several Emmy awards in portraying the same character in three separate television shows. He did not stop as an actor. He was also a director, writer, voice artist and a television producer.
