Karl Urban or Karl Heinz Urban in real life was born on August 7, 1972 at Wellington, New Zealand. Raised by his German immigrant father who when he was young owned a leather goods retail store while his mother use to worked for Film facilities in Wellington. Since his mother is working in a film facility, the young Urban was exposed to cinema that leads him to get interested in acting. Karl studied in St. Marks Church School where he started to develop his acting at an early age. At age eight, he had his first acting role in one episode of the New Zealand television series ‘Pioneer Woman’ but only had a single line. The next few years he had received several theatre role offerings in Wellington area. After he moved to Auckland, he began to accept many guest roles in local shows including the hit New Zealand TV series ‘Shortland Street’ in which he started to gain fame. Urban is engaged in several big time films such as the horror film Ghost Ship in 2002 which according to sources was his Hollywood break. He is also involved in the second and third installments of the hit trilogy film the Lord of the Rings. He is also part of the success of the film The Bourne Supremacy wherein he had a chance to work with Hollywood’s biggest stars with the likes of Matt Damon who plays the starring role as Jason Bourne in this thrilling action film. The film also stars Brian Cox as Ward Abbott and Julia Stiles as Nicky Parsons.
