He was able to appear in several Western films all throughout the 1930s and the 1940s. In fact, most of his B-movies featured him as a singing cowboy.

It was in the 1940s when he started adapting the name Allen Byron as a move to boost his fading professional luck but he was not able to keep up with all his tasks with the new studio called the Producers Releasing Corporation. Jack died unexpectedly in 1945 as he was doing the film called The Royal Mounted Rides Again. According to sources, he had a bad fall from a horse during one of the shoots.

Many researchers then argued that his cause of death was due to the injuries he got from the fall. While there are others who said that he already suffered from a fatal heart attack even before the said fall. With his unforgettable contributions to the industry just like the well known Tom Cruise, the most sought after Brad Pitt and Daniel Craig, many fans craved for his memorabilia.

Randall has an older brother by the name of Robert Livingston who also became an actor for Western films during their time. Jack got married and divorced twice Louise Stanley and had a huge affair with Louise Brooks, a popular silent film actress. He left his second wife Barbara Bennett who was also the daughter of actor Richard Bennett.
