Jack Manning, also known as Jack Wilson Marks in real life was a renowned American film, TV and theater; and not to mention, an acting teacher and a stage director. He started his passion for acting in college while he was still taking up a degree in economics.
All throughout his college years, he participated in various plays and musicals and he started changing his screen name to Jack Manning – thinking that Jack Marks was too short for a theater sign. All throughout his college years, he participated in various plays and musicals and he started changing his screen name to Jack Manning – thinking that Jack Marks was too short for a theater sign. He became a member of the NYC Theatre Guild on the Air and appeared in numerous radio dramas. He was one of the classic voices behind The Green Hornet, The Shadow, etc.
He then moved on to television making a variety of TV shows and even became a producer of a traveling theater troupe called the Helen Hayes Repertory Company in 1964. He founded this with his previous co-star Helen Hayes. From then on, he started pursuing also film productions and his film credits include Walk East on Beacon, The Great Waldo Pepper, and many more.
To add to his acting career, Jack Manning also spent a lot of his time teaching acting and being a stage director. He had his own acting studios in New York and Los Angeles. He also toured and taught at numerous universities within the country. According to research, he died in his home at the age of 93. He left his second wife with two children named Colin and Brook. He also had a daughter from his first marriage who was Gale Nichols.
