His stage credits include ‘The Winter’s Tale’ and ‘Troilus and Cressida’ which has also been done by Rosemary Harris in 1959.

Rush’s first Australian film was ‘Hoodwink’ in 1981. He then starred in ‘Starstruck‘in 1996 after a long gap and later ‘Shine’ which earned him his first Academy award and many other acknowledgements . His other movies include ‘Children of the Revolution’ in which there is a footage of Ronald Reagan shaking hands with Mikhail Gorbachev, ‘Les Miserables’ and ‘Shakespeare in Love’.

In 2001 he starred in ‘The Tailor of Panama’ with Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Radcliffe. Rush then added the series of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ to his list of growing movies. He continued getting awards in 2005 for his role in ‘The Life and Death of Peter Sellers’ and then ‘Munich’ for Steven Spielberg.

According to a range of reviews his amazing acting career was recognized when his, was one of faces which were put on special addition postage stamps for internationally renowned Australian actors which also include Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe. He is married to Jane Menelaus since 1988.
