Born Reginald Kenneth Dwight, Elton John is one of most of most respected names in the music circuit. He is a popular singer, pianist and composer. Through the course of his career, he has received 6 Grammy awards. He became a part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
At age 15, John began performing songs by Ray Charles
and Jim Reeves at a local pub. He later formed a band, ‘Bluesology’ with his friends. The band produced a couple of albums including ‘empty Sky’, ‘Tumbleweed Connection’,’Madman Across the Water’,’ Don’t shoot Me I’m Only a Piano Player’ and ‘Honky Château’.’ Bennie and the Jets’, his number 1 hit was contained in the album, ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’. In 1974, John collaborated with Lennon of The Beatles fame. In the same year, ‘Caribou’ was released. In 977, John announced that he would produce only one album a year, and was retiring from performing. In 1979, ’21 at 33’ was released. This album was followed by ‘The Fox’, which was released in 1981.In 1983, John reunited with all the band members to produce the album, ‘Too Low for Zero’ in 1983.In 1990, Elton John released ‘Sleeping with the Past’ which contained his number one hit ‘Sacrifice’. The song topped the charts for six consecutive weeks. In 1993, he released ‘Duets’, which contained collaborations with 15 different artists including Eric Clapton
. He has been touted a Disney Legend for his immense contribution to Disney films. John has been quoted as saying that he now wants to venture into the hip-hop genre and work with artists like Timbaland and Snoop Dogg
