Chris started his career by doing stand-up comedy in 1985. His appearance in the television series ‘Miami Vice’ also helped him to get recognized. There he met Eddie Murphy who gave him his first starring role in ‘Beverly Hills Cop III’. Being on the ‘Saturday Night Live’ gave him enough limelight for his potential to be realized. Before he achieved success in films, it was stand-up comedy which continued to get his attention. He also won 2 Emmy awards for his comedy special ‘Bring the Pain’.

He also produced a comedy series based on his life during school days ‘Everybody Hates Chris’ in 2005 which received critical acclaim. It was also nominated for a Golden Globe, People’s Choice and Emmy awards.

In the same year he also hosted the 77th Academy Awards like another celebrity Chevy Chase. In 2008 he acted alongside Adam Sandler and Charlotte Rae in ‘You Don’t Mess with the Zohan’.

Industry experts say that he once exclaimed that you can’t be happy when the fire cooks your food but mad when it burns your fingertips. This was in relation to the role of paparazzi in his life.

Chris Rock is married to Malaak Compton and the couple has 2 daughters.
