It was then followed by “Hackers” in 1995, her first lead role in a movie with co-stars Johnny Lee Miller and Jesse Bradford.

In 1999, Jolie received three distinctive awards for her magnificent portrayal in the drama film “Girl, Interrupted” with great actresses Wynona Ryder, Whoopi Goldberg, Vanessa Redgrave, and Britanny Murphy. She won the Academy Award Best Supporting Actress, Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress, and Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for the said movie. She also won a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild award for the two television movies “George Wallace” in 1997 and “Gia” in 1998.

Jolie also worked with John Cusack, Cate Blanchett, and Billy Bob Thorton in the 1999 comedy drama film “Pushing Tin”. However, of all the films Jolie had made, she was most appreciated and loved by the viewing public by her portrayal as Lara Croft in the 2001 adventure film “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider”.
